I have bought beautiful faux stained glass film for windows. However it will not stay put. It keeps falling off the window. Any solution to this problem?

Hello, I wanted to see if you sprayed the window with a mixture of dish soap and water first? That is how I put mine up and have never had a problem.

Like Rebecca says. you need the water for the film to stay on. Use a small squeegee to squeeze the water out and smooth the film.

If you have overworked the film, or it won’t stay flat, even with a little water, then you can use very narrow strips of clear adhesive tape on the corners and sides. Best wishes ☺️

If the application of water won't work, you could try a small piece of tape or even thumb tacks if your window frames are wood. Best of luck to you.

Many of you will have the same problem I had, which is, unbelievably, the film came in a roll that was rolled the wrong way, so that it naturally peeled off the window instead of grabbed on. To fix this, roll it the other way, so that if it had that bias, it would grab on rather than roll off. Then, having made a tight roll, secure it with twist-ties so that it stay that way. Now pour very hot but not boiling water through the middle of the roll. Wait for that to cool, remove the twist-ties, and then do the same again, but roll it from the other end so that both ends that were curling the wrong way are in the middle curling the right way when the hot water hits it. This cured my problem. Probably you could do something similar with a hot iron and some protective fabric and a very flat surface. Anyway, worked for me, and it was driving me crazy...

Hi, Is this a cling or a sticky backed film. If a cling, then use water with a drop of w/up liquid and then apply and smooth down with a window wiper. Make sure there are no wrinkles.

You'll need a thin layer of water to make it cling. For winter we use bubble wrap on the windows, it lets the sun in and insulates.

  • The window needs to be super clean. You might want to clean it with vinegar or a strong window cleaner, then try again.
