Most Koi ponds I have ever seen were plastic molded or a hole lined with plastic. I have never heard of one that is glass, that would be dangerous.
If you are doing a built in koi pond with a "window" you need a special tempered glass.

I would consult with fish pond builders. It affects the entire ecosystem. They are cool, I have seen a few. I have an acquaintance that is an exotic fish guy that builds and services fresh and salt water ponds and aquariums.
I've lived with Koi ponds, and seen many Japanese ones..... never seen any with glass.
In the garden between two columns and it would be exposed to the sun. But I want to view the fish from both sides
