I have had a nice picture, from Kitklands, hanging in a nook by my bathtub for about 10 yrs. I love the gram the picture is in... but I've been trying to find something more modern, and fresh in that large empty spot. So, why spend a ton of money for a new picture or piece of art.
i decided to take the picture apart and save the wonderful frame. It had matting that was nice, but I decided to change the color. So, I painted it. Then 3 sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper and some wood phrases and put back together...and it looks great. Here's all the steps...
Here is th before picture. Looks nice I know, but 10 yrs old and I wanted a change.
Up close pic of old frame, matting and picture.
Removed the backing to get to the Matting and picture.
bought these 3 phrases: hope, faith, live. Painted them brown... using cheap acrylic paints from Walmart.
Next painting the brown matting. I decided to use the same paint/color that are all walls. So painted with the same paint.
All painted, one layer only was needed.
paint all dry and checking how the scrapbook paper I chose fits and looks...
Tried the painted words to see how they fit...
Decided to go for it and add the scrapbook paper to the cardboard picture. I was shocked to find the previous picture was just a basic print on the cardboard. Nothing special.
Scrapbook taper to place on cardboard and cover up the flowers.
used scrapbook tape to hold down paper to card board.
Then put on newly painted matting on top.
Added the words. Used a small amount of glue from glue gun to hold the letters in place.
Put back into frame and put backing all back in place.
How it how looks above my tub. Love it and looks great.
Finished picture hung up and looks great...
