I think it depends on the walls. If you have wallpaper you can use certain cleaners that won't strip or damage the wallpaper. Like soda water and clean gently. If you have paint that will require different applications depending on the type of paint.
Slime is a wet substance. Crumbs are dry. Do you mean grime instead?
