Any secret to fill Wall Panel grooves befor painting

I have seen the paneling just painted, grooves and all, and it looks pretty good.

Yes, you could use drywall joint compound to fill the grooves. Before I would try to fill the grooves I would think long and hard about simply removing the panels and replace with drywall.

It's pretty easy to fill the grooves and paint to make it look like a normal flat wall:

I use no shrink drywall patching compound. Use just enough to fill the grooves. No sanding. Let it dry overnight. Next day use a damp sponge to smooth out the patching. A good stain blocking primer and your ready to paint.

We used calking to fill the cracks, then we used aroma free Kilz primer to paint over it. Then we were able to paint however we wanted after that. It was not difficult, but tedious. It turned out nice.
