Wall prep for painting/living room.

Do you need to use a primer on a sage green wall & entry way, that has sustained cigarette smoke? My color of choice now is called Tequila Lime, by Benjamin Moore Paint Co.. Just wondering if it needs scrubbing or primer. It is not noticeably discolored, but was the living room of a light smoker with good air flow. Thank for any suggestions> I really enjoy your sight!

You had better wash your walls and primer might also be a good choice. I always remember my Dad saying that green paint was the hardest to cover. Don't know why he said that but he did and he did a lot of work on our houses!

After you clean the walls, get the paint store to tint your primer one shade lighter than the paint you plan to use. That will help cover it well.

You should wash the walls with ESP cleaner. Then either primer with a primer tinted to 1/3 the color of finished wall color or use a paint and primer combination. I prefer the 1st suggest for the best look. takes more work but will give best results. I use to sell paint.
