Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.
We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.

It is a very small space between cabinets and counter, mine is like that as well. I was thinking of doing circles or octagon pattern and picking like three different colors with gray being the main color. The good thing about painting a faux back splash is you can always paint over it if you want to change it.
I'm not sure what you mean by faux painting, could you please explain? You could definitely paint it. If you want non permanent options they include - peel and stick tile, contact paper, draw on ship lap. Found this brick stencil online at Michael's - use it to paint the area and I would recommend using different colors to layer each brick to give it dimension - and be sure to post a photo!
