There is a product called Howard's Restore-a-Finish. It is like an industrial strength furniture polish and come in several shade. If your finish is just food, putting it on/taking it off with a soft cloth will probably do it. If the finish is distressed, use some #0000 steel wool to put it on and a soft rag to take it off. Try it in an inconspicuous area (inside leg?) to see if you like the look. It is available at most paint stores and big box stores.

The “old fashioned” method was to use blotting paper (available still at office supply stores) and a warm iron, not steam. Place the blotter over the spot, then press with the warm iron. It might take a couple of tries.

If it's a heat mark try cigarette ash, I don't know why it works but it does!!
