  • Choose an accent color that pops as you have two neutrals already. Use that for the rug and decor pieces. I repeat accent color in odd numbers around the room for interest, no matter what style you choose.

Along with Naomi’s suggestion, you might just purchase a slip cover for the sofa.

If you can find a rug that incorporates the tones of the gray and beige, with additional colors in the pattern (like a pretty floral) then you could choose the bright color for pillows to tie it all together.

I like shopping online for rugs--there are thousands of patterns available.

If you'll be adding several pillows on the couch you can go with several different shades of gray (do NOT match your wall color) and different fabric textures also for visual interest. Decorating with gray is Very 'on-trend' right now. Then if you could find a decent sized gray rug, NO print, It would look great and very simple and clean. Then you could paint or stain your coffee table black, and the whole little vignette would have a very cool vibe. Using pillows to bring in an accent color is so yesterday. Instead, you can find a big piece of artwork for the wall, in colors you really love. Walmart has cheap ones that don't look cheap if you are a bit selective. Pull 1 or 2 (at the most) colors from the art and incorporate them through the room. Examples: Paint a wooden box that will corral all your remote controls. Spray paint the outside of a vase for fresh greenery or a branch from your shrubs (colorful flowers may compete too much with the clean look you've got going on). Instead of a large piece of art, frame a bunch of black and white family photos in black frames, some painted wood, others painted metal. Mix it up like that. But mat all of them with mats that are a pale shade of your chosen accent color. You can use any color mat, and spray paint it in the correct shade. Just make sure it's very pale in tone. And use the same color on each mat. This is a very cool look. Group them all together as one large arrangement, say on the wall behind the couch. Tip: Use the same accent colors from your living room and sprinkle them throughout other rooms nearby, such as the kitchen, bathroom and dining room. This gives a cohesive look to your house. No matter how you choose to do this project, I wish you would post it as a project so I can see how it turns out for you. I would really love to see it! I'm jus sayin...

I would look for a carpet that had both cream and greys in it ....perhaps an oriental carpet with lots of colour, then choose to accent with one of the dominant colours from the rug

You need color! Find a carpet with reds, greens, and yellows. All of these colors go well with beige and gray. Then pick up one of those colors for your throw pillows

Why not paint the wall? Otherwise there are plenty of pillows and thows that can pull the two together.Another idea is to get an inexpensive couch cover in the color of our choice

Personally, I don't like beige and gray, but I would look for accent pieces that have both colors in them to tie them together. or paint the wall or buy a slip cover for the sofa.
