I have 7 whole inches (width) to work with. Any ideas?

I searched online, and most of the narrow cans seem to be at least 8-1/2 inches. Maybe look for cans that aren't specifically for the kitchen, like those blue recycling bins, etc.?

Thank you. Yeah, I already did all the online searching, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. Thanks.

The problem with this small a space is you don't have any room for spills...no way to get in there and wipe up!

I did find this metal shelving that is 7" wide. Metal is easier to clean than wood and would not retain odors! You can find small plastic bins or garbage cans like those used in bathrooms for garbage. They make odor inhibiting garbage bags for these types of containers.

The top shelf can be used to hold containers for scraps you might want to compost or be handy to drop in cans you want to recycle!

Currently just using paper grocery bags. No issues with spills as I

just pull out the bag, dump in the garbage, then put it back. Maybe I just need to find something pliable that a bit more pleasing to the eye. Thanks.

Make a wooden one so you can get the exact dimensions you need.

Attach small wheels to the bottom so you can roll it in and out to change the bag. Any trashcan you put between the stove and fridge will, over time, tear up the sides of both of those appliances, because you will inevitably be knocking up against it repeatedly by pulling the trashcan in and out and out and in, week after week. Anyhow, the trash you put in it will be very size restrictive. And, it will be so narrow that it will be difficult to pull a full trashbag out of an opening that will be less than 7" w. If you make it out of wood you will have to figure the wood will be 1/2" thick all the way around. So this means the opening will actually be less than 6" w. A better idea would be to find a better spot. I'm jus sayin...

Garbage will start smelling quickly because of the heat from the oven. Especially in warmer weather. Flies and maggots are not fun to deal with either.

It's really a stovetop and cabinet, not the actual oven, but I didn't have enough space for the word cabinet vs. oven : )

    Enclose the gap.
