    Are they dead or damaged?

We have had deer severely eat down our arborvitae shubs...but they came back. Sometimes pruning will help the altered sad distorted appearance. We have learned not to plant arborvitae unless they are the deer resistant varieties.

Most nurseries guarantee their plants for a year. But it takes a tremendous amount of watering the first 3 years to establish these plants. And, great root massage before planting. Then no maintenance. THEY GO THRU SHOCK! Good luck

Arborvitaes need a lot of watering for the first year when they are planted. They still could come back unless they are all totally brown. Also when planting them I mix in compost. I hope they come back for you.

Arborvitaes are known for spider mites, which most are not aware of. Normal watering is basic knowledge for those that stated that.Winter burn would show signs of browning from the inside which again is a normal shedding process

I see beautiful landscaping with tons of Arborvitaes and I always want to yell STOP !!! But they are cheap for landscapers to use..they don't care what happens after they plant and get paid. I see 90% Of new trees planted...dead all the time. Sad..and such a waste of money. I have 2 in my yard that are thriving...probably because I had no expectations !
