Mix the cement. Using heavy gloves dip and squeeze the towel in and out of the cement. Spray cooking spray on the outside of a bucket. Drape the towel over and let dry. Drill a drainage hole in the bottom.

There are many variations on the hypertufa pots..... You Tube has endless videos on the subject... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+make+hypertufa+planters

I agree with above comments. Mix up a batch of concrete. Use a towel large enough to cover whatever you're using as a mold. (I recommend using a 5 gallon bucket.) Wrap your mold with saran wrap and spray it with cooking spray. Dip the towel into the concrete making sure it is completely covered. Lay it over the mold and arrange it if needed. Allow to dry and then separate the towel from the mold. This sounds like an awesome DIY. I might even try it myself.

We used concrete and a square bucket for the mold (with a hole in the bottom). We also cut a small X in middle of the towel (in the section that will become the bottom of the planter) and then slide a piece of PVC through the X and into the hole in the bottom of the plastic bucket. This created the drainage hole and we didn't have to drill it out later.

    2 things from my experience:

    1. Make sure the towel is saturated completely with concrete before draping it over the bucket. If even a tiny bit of the towel is exposed, it allows moisture in and that can degrade the planter.

    2. Use some kind of polycrylic, or something similar, to seal the concrete before planting. This adds extra protection for the concrete.

Soak towel in cement mix then turn mould upside down on a stand and drape towel over it so it hangs free and leave to cure...............
