Changing the color of driftwood and another question

by Edith L
I bought a bundle of driftwood at HomeGoods to make a driftwood wreath. It is a tan color and I want it to be a grayish color. I bought some paint thinking I could whitewash it, but now wondering if I could bleach it instead. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have it soaking right now, but how long should it soak? Thanks again!

They make a weathered gray stain by minwax. I would take a small brush or sponge and dab a little on there to see if you really like the look.

You can bleach it in a bathtub or other large container. Even if you use bleach, try to give the wood drying time in the sun for a few hours. ☺️

Try bleach first as you could always paint after if you are not happy.........

If you already have the craft paint in the color you like ,water it down a little a rub on the wood
