50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Spray it on, wait a few minutes and scrub with an old toothbrush.
I only use plain hot water to turn my grout from dark grey to creamy color. Four dogs, our feet and hubby using only a Swiffer mop with a dirty pad makes my grout dirty in no time. He didn't believe me when I told him it was a creamy color. He thinks the Swiffer mops cleans the grout, but there is no way it can get down there.
You can sprinkle baking soda on the grout lines and then spray them down with vinegar and then scrub them really well. Or you can buy a product called Grout Renew which basically repaints the grout lines to look like new again.

Once you have your grout clean, put a sealer on it and the grout will be easier to keep clean.
