Mounting a pegboard with frame inside Rubbermaid shed

I have a Rubbermaid Roughneck shed and want to mount pegboard. Home Depot assoc. advised me to mount board on a frame prior to hanging to keep it from warping in Florida heat/humidity. I have the framed pegboard ready to be mounted, but it won't fit with the bracket/hangers supplied with the shed. I am not able to find any answers to this on the Rubbermaid site. The screws that fit the hangers will go through the pegboard, but not the frame. Guess I can go to Lowe's with the hangers to see if I can find a screw that will go through the frame yet fit the hanger. Now I'm thinking the Home Depot assoc. misinformed me. I hate unscrewing the frame from the pegboard. If all else fails, I'll hang the pegboard in the garage and mount unframed pegboard in the shed.

I think assoc. was only making a suggestion, that was okay, but did not fit your needs. Instead of making a frame, the peg board just needs to remain stiff. So you can take 1/4" plywood and have whichever box store cut into strips and put one on each end and one in the middle, or offset if that's where the screw needs to go. Then hang through the peg board holes. Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestion. I ended up screwing 4 hangers to the strips across the top of the pegboard from the back. Very easy and only the cost of a new drill bit and package of screws.

All you may need to do is get longer screws to make it through the added frame to the hangers. If the screws don't fit the hangers (too big or too small), tell them the problem. If it is too big for one of them, perhaps a washer will solve the problem with the hole too big.

I bought a 4'X8' sheet of pegboard and had Home Depot cut it into one 4'X4' and two 2'X4' pieces. I added 1"X2" framing (Home Depot provides a place to cut these) around all three sheets. I then mounted the 2'X4' sheets to either side of the 4'X4' sheet with piano hinges. Now I have a pegboard with hanging space inside and out making essentially three 4'X4' feet of hanging space in 1/3 the space, yet still easy to access.

All ingredients are available from Home Depot with little alteration.
