Hi Peter, That sounds so nice. My advice is to follow the instructions to the letter. If you run into any problems, go to You Tube. If you know the make and model number, they will have a tutorial on the installation. They have tutorials on everything under the sun. We use it often. Best of luck to you.

Does your bathroom presently have just one single switch, or does it have a double switch? (2 gang), or better yet, by any chance, a triple gang?

A bathroom fan heating lamp bulb needs to be wired separately so that you can turn the lamp on (for up to 60 min) or off.

The bathroom exhaust fan will need to wired separately on to its own on/off switch. You can swap a timer on/off switch into the same gang easily. This will enable the fan to turn itself off up to the number of minutes on the timer switch, which is a convenient energy saver.

If there is another lighting source in the bathroom (usually over the sink) it will need to be wired separately from either the fan heat bulb or the exhaust function. A dimmer switch can be swapped into an ordinary on/off outlet if dimming of the main lighting in the bathroom is desired.

Two important things to keep in mind is to choose the right size vent fan for your bathroom, and to vent the fan to the outside, instead of the attic.
