It's time for Valentines Day gifts and it's getting close. I put together a fun present for my grandkids to give to their parents. I got the inspiration from http://chascrazycreations.com/easy-valentine-candle-display/
If you've ever seen excited kids, you'll understand why I didn't get a supplies pic. They were so excited when I brought out this project, they could hardly wait to start. My idea was to use their handprints on the mirror then use the red heart gems (table scatter) to decorate around 2 candles. You'll see how I couldn't get certain other pics because I was going from one to the other most of the time. LOL Oh but it was so much fun! I did learn a lesson though. Always take supply pics before showing kids a project! :)
Here's what we used:
1 Dollar Tree Mirror 8 x 10
2 Dollar Tree Red Faux Candles
1 Dollar Tree Red Heart Gems (called Table Scatter)
Glue - I used Elmer's clear but in hindsight, I'd recommend a low temp glue gun

This is a pic of the glue and the red gems, you can see the mirror frame on the side. We had just put their HANDPRINTS on the mirror. I painted each of their hands with a different color then let them press their hands on the mirror. The problem with getting a pic was that I was using both hands to help each of them, so I missed that part. 
They decided they liked one with fingers up and one with fingers down. LOL Kids - they are so much fun to work with!

Can you see the pink handprint? That belongs to my granddaughter. Once the handprints were done, they started adding the red gems. They ran out of room on the mirror and started on the frame. The ones on the frame didn't stick very well, that why in hindsight I would have used a glue gun.

Then the kids decided they wanted to put the red gems on the candle. I thought 'that's not going to work'. But I'm the Nana so I said "Sure - go ahead." Another place where the glue gun would have worked better (Actually they slide around so much that I got out the glue gun when they weren't looking - bad Nana)

Finished mirror
Here's the finished project. My 3 year old (almost 4) grandson got so excited. He said "Oh, Nana, Mama is going to LOVE this." Be still my heart. 
When everything was dry, I put their names on their hands and the date at the bottom, using a Sharpie.

And yes! Mama did love it! Notice my grandson waving to you all. He's getting used to me taking pics for Hometalk. So grab a couple of kiddos, a mirror, some red hearts, a candle or two and have some fun!

They only stay little for so long.. Crafts like that are cherished for such a long time!!

Hi Beeswonderland, Yes however I made tons of things with my grandmother and don't know what happened to them. I do have the memories though. :)
