anyone know of a way to remove the adhesive (looks like concrete) after you remove the tile floor? we used the machine to remove the tile but it did not remove the adhesive. other than using a chisel on a 10x10 floor which will take forever. any ideas will be welcome, please!

  • What's the substrate under it - concrete, wood, some other cement like product? With concrete, removing the thin set revolves around scrapers or chisels - you can use a grinder but I would not recommend that due to dust, etc... Wood - same as above trying to go with the grain to help avoid tear-outs. A backer board - remove said backer-board to get down to the substrate

it is a concrete floor. I have tried using scrapers, but, it is really hard work and only removes a very little bit at a time. I just hoped there was another way. this will be a huge, tedious project.

I spoke with a contractor and his quote was $700 to remove the thin set, sand the concrete and apply a sealer. I think I will have to go with a pro and I'm sure he will have to use a grinder. Luckily, I can close off the room to cut down on the dust.

Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry. I really appreciate it.
