It is pewter which is a dull gray metal. Your tray came in pewter finish only but was silver plated for the look.

It looks like it was chrome plated. If that is the case you can get it re-chromed. I don't think it is pewter. Pewter contains lead and it isn't safe for food. Put a magnet to it and see if it has any ferrous metal.
