How can I change the color of this table so it would look lighter? For example, a color similar to natural or antique white.

If you want to paint it, I would recommend chalk paint. My go-to chalk paint is from Waverly and sold at Walmart for $6 a bottle. Great stuff and usually one bottle is enough (depending on the project). Make sure the surface is clean and dry. Apply a light coat of paint (no sanding or priming is usually required). Let dry, lightly sand with high grit sand paper by hand, apply another coat of paint. And repeat until you reach the desired amount of paint. For a distressed look, you can lightly sand again before applying a sealer, paying special attention to the edges and corners of the pieces, where natural wear would happen. Then, I used a light top coat to seal of water based polycrylic (MinWax in the blue can is my fav).

If you want it a natural wood color... you will need to strip or sand it down to the wood surface and then simply clear coat... of course you can always paint it.... any color you want.
