Thought it was time to wash my favorite soft blanket. Big mistake as there is now lint EVERYWHERE and pills all over. Tried drying is again with no heat and some of the lint came off but most is still there. Help!

  • you may want to look for a clothing shaver. They are not terribly expensive. (I saw them in Target). If you are brave, you can try a plain razor to shave them off

Agree with Elizabeth, best way to remove the pilling is to de-fuzz with a battery-operated clothing shaver. It will take some time since you're doing an entire blanket. Method that works for me is to place my palm behind the area I'm working on and moving the clothing shaver in a circular motion while applying some pressure until the pilling disappears.

I have an electric lint/pill shaver and it works wonders.

Acrylic pills. They make little combs and even little battery-operated removers.... http://www.drleonards.com/jumbo-lint-remover/32532.cfm

I have also read that adding fabric softner helps reduce this.

Oh Elizabeth's comment reminded me of a clients blanket that had the ugliest dirty looking pills all over a pale blue blanket. It was so tedious with the comb, I got out my electric hair clippers and gave the blanket a shave. Be careful not to cut the blanket. I did it on top of an ironing board.
