I stopped using fabric softener and use white vinegar in the final rinse. Clothes are soft and cat hair doesn't cling. I use 1/2 -1 cup in big loads of towel or blankets.
it should come out in the dryer if you use dryer sheets.
I like to shake out towels, and bedding cat's sat on before washing. If clothes are affected, I use a velco or silicon clothes brush before washing. Then keeping your cat brushed daily helps a lot too.
