Or you could dye the whole carpet. There are professional rug cleaners who do this. I had it done with a powder blue wall to wall carpet in a living room I had. They cleaned and then died it a darker blue for me. Covered everything and cost about $100 at the time. Not bad for 41 sq yards of carpet.
