How much pruning can I do on my tangerine tree?

The branches inside of my tree are drying up pretty bad but the outter branches are still nice...how much can I prune so I can get new growth? l live
in Hawaii and have had this tree for about 8-9 years and it’s always produced
well but now it looks like it’s drying up...even the fruits are getting smaller.
What should I do?

Even Hawaiian soil needs help, sometimes. Volcanic ash is probably all the fertilizer you need. On the other hand, some trees die from the inside out. If you can cut a chunk out of a dry branch and take it to a local nursery for more local advice. Best wishes ☺️
Cut out any dead or diseased wood as soon as you notice it. Because it is likely to harbor pathogens, remove this wood from the area immediately.
