Their legions are limitless. Go outside and check around the perimeter of your home. Look for the assembly line of ants and follow their trail from your home back to their mother nest. Look for small holes in the ground or in old fallen tree branches. Now fill a spray bottle with white wine vinegar. Spray directly into the nest holes. Mix equal parts sugar and borax in old jar and label it ANT KILLER! Pour around ant hills and nests. To keep pets away from this mixture, place plastic strawberry container on top and put a rock on top of this mix.
If You are OK using poison "Terro ant killer" is the best. You place a few drops on a piece of cardboard where they are traveling. They carry it back to the nest and it kills the colony.
