Nowadays they are making Persian carpets in certain regions from vegetable dyed yarn. What are the disadvantages?

I have a large, expensive Turkish wool rug and I found the dye faded.

  I have found that all woolen rugs fade if exposed to sunlight. However the color will not come out if you wash it or spot clean it - ths is if it is properly dyed. However I do not know about cleaning a vegetable dyed carpet? has anybody got experience with that?

Try blotting the rug with a damp white cloth first before trying any cleaner. Vegetable dyes have a tendency to run if the dye is not set properly.
