Are you in an apartment complex? If so the landlord should handle that problem. Have you talked to the people in the upstairs unit?

general contractor/Plumber -- you most likely have a broken seal around the drain -- not a DIY project as the water will be damaging the floor joists and ceiling of the room below

Could be anything from needing caulk to faulty water pipes to a damaged valve. Call a plumber like YESTERDAY! The damage could run into the tens of thousands if it's let go. Water is a structure's worst enemy. If you're a renter, be diligent about the landlord fixing it quickly. Mold is deadly if left to fester.

Whoa, better get a plumber on this right away before the upstairs shower becomes the downstairs shower. Also enlist a carpenter, while you are at it, as he/she will have to repair the ceiling too. Good luck.
