Have you experimented with the vinegar and steel wool wool stain?

I’ve had great results using it on pressure-treated wood to age it to match existing wood when replacing boards it gives it a nice weathered color.

Walnuts.

I like to use solution made with steel wool that soaks in vinegar. The steel wool dissolves. This creates a chemical reaction with the tanin in the wood. The longer it steeps, the darker the stain.

Depends..how dark?? If you can find ...prolly not til nxt fall..real walnuts ..still in the hull..after they turn brown/black u boil them..water gets deep brown..natural stain..wear gloves cuz very hard to get off ur hands!! If too dark water it dwn..beautiful shade..brunettes can also rinse hair with this to cover gray!!
