Where are they coming from? Do you have houseplants near the windows, or is it more in the kitchen? The ones in the freezer are just ones that flew in when the freezer was open and are most likely dead. Check house plants to see if any fly off when you disturb the plant and soil. If they do, you will need to repot in new soil and clean out the pots real well. Rinse off the roots to take off the old soil and start completely over. Those would be fungus gnats that love the little bit of fungus that can be on the soil and breed in the soil. Gnats mainly in the kitchen can be prevented by washing any fruits and veggies that are left out on the counter, they will breed in the thin skinned ones. They also like the moisture in the drains. Pour boiling water in them. Cider vinegar with a couple of drops of dish soap will attract them and they will drown in the liquid will help to get rid of them. If you have a lot, even a fly strip will really help. I hope this helps you some.

Another thing to look for is where you store things like onions and potatoes, one soft spot can turn into a breeding ground. I couldn't figure out where my moms were coming from until I checked the basket where she kept her potatoes in the pantry closet. There was one that was just infested on the bottom of her basket. After I cleaned that up for her (she is almost 98) and put out an attractant, it didn't take long for them to disappear.

Get a cup, pour in apple cider vinegar about halfway, add a few drops of dish soap, place on the countertop. The bugs will be attracted to the sweet vinegar, the soap will keep them from flying. Change as needed.

If in your plant use systemic insect killer...goes to the roots of the plant...bugs\flies eat the plant and die.
