Looking for suggestions on refinishing an old bathroom counter top.

Instead of buying a new counter top, I am wondering about refinishing ideas. Currently it is a flat laminate with a round drop in sink.

Make sure the countertop is strong and is not coming up at the corners. Use a level to see if the countertop is level. The cabinet may need leveling. Is the wooden frame sturdy with no rotting parts? is the caulking around the sun in good shape? Are there any plumbing issue to deal with?
