We had one of those ugly glass tv stands. I looked everywhere for a better alternative. Too expensive...not right, etc.
Ugly stand, mismatched tables, messy. I woke up one morning with a design in my head. We headed to Lowes for supplies.
We bought 3 boards that were 6 feet long and 16 inches wide. You can get whatever your budget allows. We got those made from glued strips.
We bought 6 pre-made legs. They are 28 inches high.
We stained everything with 3 coats of Bombay Mahogany stain. I left it uneven. I wanted the aged, old varnish look.
Installed L brackets at each end and in the middle of each board. We added a little extra support on the top shelf because it holds the tv. Just little board strips glued and screwed in.
The end of the board with brackets.
We attached the legs to the brackets on each end using screws.
We attached the middle legs last. This was the hardest part. Making sure they were totally level and vertical. We had carefully placed the brackets, but beginners can't be too careful.
This is the finished piece. Both lamps and tv fit nicely. Room for all the media under.
