You may want to determine why it is pulling up. If it is because of water you need to fix that first. I have used peel and stick and had good results. You will need to determine if all of the current flooring needs to be taken up then look at the base. If it is good and dry then you can go forward with the undercoat and then apply like on the box. Since it is in the bathroom I would suggest talking to your local home store about “grouting” in between with a silicone type grout for water protection. It will turn out beautifully

Remove old. Assess the floor for water damage and repair. Install new according to directions that come with the flooring.

Although it will be a more difficult installation you may want to consider sheet vinyl rather than individual tiles. No seams to let water through.

You need to be sure that the flooring is solid and dry underneath your present flooring with no lumps or bumps. Plywood is the best base for flooring.
