How do you remove years of grease from a counter top appliance?

I was given a working Food Savor but it appeared like years of grease was covering the outside as if it was on a counter near a stove and no one thought to clean it after cooking with grease. I have coated it with Dawn dish detergent and let it sit overnight. It helped but didn't really do the trick. Help!

Goo Gone might remove it.
Remove it from where it is fastened. Soak in a sink of hot water, dish liquid and baking soda and it should come clean.

Have you tried baking soda and vinegar? Make a paste and apply it. Let sit for several hours then use damp cloth with white vinegar to remove .
Go to dollar tree and get a bottle of AWESOME. IT CLEANES EVERYTHING FOR A BUCK
I love "Super Clean". It's in a purple bottle. I get it at Menards. It's for cleaning engines etc. it took out a oil stain in my hubby's white polyeste jacket, after I had washed it about three times, using everything I can think of to remove the stain. I take a spray bottle and fill it at least half full of the super clean and add water. It can be used to cut grease on anything, and not remove paint on walls etc! It can dry out your hands if you use it straight, so wear gloves. But, it's my favorite cleaner!! I even poured about a cup in the washing machine when my husbands clothes are really dirty and greasy. Good luck!
You may need to just keep scrubbing at it, if it has been that way for a long time. It may have to come off in layers to get at all of it. Try an oxy type spray cleaner or even simple green or some other grease cutter. You may just have to live with the gunk on it, at least the food doesn't touch the outside of the appliance. I have had them for at least twenty years and they last a long time (I replaced my original about a year ago). It may look bad like it is, but as long as the food you are bagging doesn't have to touch the outside you should be ok to use it. Just make a cover for it, or cover it with a towel or something, or keep it put away so you don't have to look at it.
Try Lestoil, two pints hot water, with a 1/2 cup of Lestoil. Start with an old clean rag, then use a sponge that has a scrubber on one side, gently get the rest off. Use Q-tips for the hard to reach places.
