My husband and I built a couple of versa-lok walls in our yard. You must start the wall with an even foundation. The versa-lok wall requires 6" to be below ground on the base row. Dig out a section a few feet at a time about 8-10" deep removing any large rock. Fill in with 1-2" of 1 inch stone, tap till level, then add a layer of sand, taping until level front to back and side to side. We placed two posts about 5' apart and tied string and a floating level to make sure we were building completely level. The first row takes a long time to make sure it it straight and level. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th rows of block are easy. If you Google Versa-lok Block, you can find complete instructions on building the block wall and there is a visual as well. Good luck and happy building!
