I have a Texas Star that has out grown spot how & when can I move it?

I bought this Texas Star over 15 yrs we Love it so but it's outgrown its spot. I know it needs to be moved but when is the best time & how can I separate it so we don't damage the plant but may be able to have 2 or 3 Texas Stars?

Just remember how big it got and that you move it to a location where it has plenty of room---but also, maybe you should be trimming it up some each year. Is it supposed to look so leggy? That usually comes from not trimming.

I looked at the site suggested and it looks good. I read once that you are not to transplant hibiscus when they are totally dormant. My experience has been that they are easy to raise from gathered seed or digging volunteers. My Texas Star has narrower petals, without the flowers people think that it’s a Marijuana plant. Be happy to send seeds at the end of the season. rmerrill@ntin.net
March is the best time to move it now likewise the dormant season.take up by the roots see if you can pull.apart the roots by hand if not use a fork it will have lots of roots you can make seviral plants from it good luck
Mine also used to get leggy til I started cutting it back AFTER I collected seeds - easy to do! I created a hedge ! Collect the seed pods and cut it back just before autumn and before it goes dormant. YOU CAN move it at just about any time, but it won't be happy the first year after you move it. And... yeah... people used to ask why I was growing "pot" cuz my plant had narrow 5 fingered leaves! LOL
Late fall when plant is dormant. Cut the root ball in half or quarters to start other plants.
