Difference between a freestanding range and a slide in range?

Hi Mary a free standing range is a lot more typical to what you would usually see in just about anyone's kitchen. Yes it can definitely go between two cabinets. A slide in range varies but basically as a rule it has to go between cabinets.
As long as you have the right width between the cupboards you could do either.
