house no. 3 my currant place had a mold issue from leaks in the roof, and pet feces in the basemen. Half vinager half water in a spray bottle and spray regularlY. Did some research vinager will kill mold spores, but bleach wont. bleach will kill the mold and leave the spores to spread more mold. Don’t know what type of mold...it’s color was black.
If mold is black, you may have to call in a professional.
Tear out the drywall which should have been done on day 2 of the leak. Now the mold has taken hold, you usually have to get rid of all upholstered furniture, carpets/pads and drapes. So the studs and subfloor can be sprayed.
Your homeowners policy should cover this. Have a remediator remove the mold. If you decide to do it, which I would not advise, you need to research it, wear a respirator. Mold can make you very sick, even kill you. I had a mold exposure at work, and I and 8 people before me wound up quitting cause we got so sick.... now I am allergic to mold.
Your homeowners insurance should have covered any damage from the trees falling, contact them to see who they work with about the consequences of the roof being damaged. They may have a company that they deal with for those water damage problems, make sure you tell them you are now having mold problems and need a pro to deal with it before health problems start happening. When my daughter was in high school, she worked at a restaurant that had a black mold problem in the walls of the basement where they went for breaks. She had to quit because she got sick from it, and they wouldn't do anything about it, even though they knew they had the mold. She would be fine until she had to go to work, and would feel sick the whole time she was at work.
