Flies and Stinkbugs coming into the building

I volunteer at a museum that's in a building which was built around 1870. We get flies and stink bugs in the building and they appear to come in around the windows, which are the original windows. Is there something we can do to get rid of them without replacing the windows?

Perhaps you could caulk around the windows.

You would need to caulk everywhere they can get in. If its a historical building then I guess you would have to use oakum and tamp it into the joints around window. If there is a vent in the attic space, I would put screen over it inside.

Stink bugs do no harm except smell bad when you kill them. I've had a few stink bugs hanging round all winter and I just let them have fun and crawl wherever until I can catch them and throw the little buggers into the toilet. Have you considered the old-fashioned fly strips that are still available? They work for me. Sometimes get gnats in August (Central Maryland area).

Thanks for your recommendations. It is a historical building. I need to check on the caulking. And, since the ceilings are high, putting the fly traps in that area may not look too bad, if you don’t look up.
