Gold and Silver steep in washing up liquid and use old soft toothbrush. Costume - Do not steep as stones might come out , but wipe with damp cloth.
plain white tooth[aste
On gold I use rubbing alcohol and water and rinse and dry well. For the silver, be careful as it may have been coated to prevent tarnishing. If it isn't tarnished, a mild soap and water and well dried should help. That would also work on costume jewelry.
If items are not tarnished (silver) and a simple cleaning is all you need use and old toothbrush and a little toothpaste. If silver is tarnishing get a silver polishing cloth.
You can buy a jewellery cleaning solution or get them cleaned at the jewellers........
That's it. I'll rather do this and be on the safe side. Many thanks
I sell a lot of silver on Ebay. Jewelry, silverware, serving sets. Silver polish and dips tend to remove some of the metal. The foil method doesn't work that great and still leaves a grey film that still needs to be removed. I use white toothpaste (not gel)and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, gold, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.
