Make a tiny toilet area interesting but not busy

Yvette
by Yvette
I have a single toilet room with nothing but a small window behind the toilet. I don't want it busy but chic and something nice. I always go less-is-more so not too busy. And none of those monstrosity space savers over the toilet please. Uggh
I've taken the curtain and rod off and put in my stainless steel bin and toilet brush. But that is all.

You could add a colorful window film. And a small color coordinating throw rug in front of the toilet. My husband would like a wall hanging magazine rack to hold his reading material, lol.

I advise use landscape wallpaper with perspective. As if you are sitting on top of a hill and look into the distance

Good suggestions above. Might use wall paper trim just above the tile to add a bit of color and easier than wall papering the whole wall. Especially like the Plant in the window and a magazine rack. Even a mirror on the back of the door especially if you have a good view out the window.

Is that tile staying? If so you only have one wall to deal with basically because it will be to tight if you use both,in my humble opinion. I would paint it an interesting color to start out with since if that tile stays the bathroom as I see it is just all one color. Then a piece of art work on the wall wit no tiles. Your window appears to have some sort of feminine design which is all curly and doesn't really go with the less is more so since it's over the toilet (😨) I would add a curtain to cover it up completely so from the ceiling to the around the bottom of first tile across the entire back wall. That as well can be a simple solid color or maybe a stripe to keep it minimalistic. I would never put a mirror on door, who wantsaid to watch themselves go? And I trust that you have a sink with a mirror so a person can check themselves on that one. As for wall paper, keep in mind humidity in a bathroom. If you should decide a plant an orchid or better yet air plants will do well because they draw water needed from humidity and airplanes are small and less fussy than an orchid which requires weekly care plus monthly feeding. Not to mention that it just doest look like your window sill could hold an orchid, but airplanes are so light because you just place them in see through planters that they can be hung from ceiling with a small hook. Oh also don't forget that you can paint ceiling as well to offer interest in that space. Since it is enclosed it must have a light fixture, maybe switch that out to something more eye catching.

What about putting some form of stain glass on the window sill? Like a really brightly coloured glass vase in red or multi coloured? That way it gives interest to the space and colour on the walls in a non invasive way? http://pinterest.com/pin/499829258628937877/?source_app=android

a minimalistic (maybe greek design?) or stripped?? black and white curtain with a black rod from end to end (window wall) set as high as possible and ending right where white tile starts....A nice simple picture...the curtain would cover (not the actual window) but the plain wall sides....If possible a nice bright good size hanging lamp.....a medium size plant

Try a decorative window film. There are many patterns to choose from, and are easy to apply.

I think it's perfect for building wood over the toilet to make it look like an old fashioned water closet. With a pull chain to flush! Victorian era

A couple of ideas using Evertrue V groove panels. I love these things and have use the to cover my ceiling, on a wall and to make a headboard! They are very light and super easy to work with!.

Idea #1- Paint your tile white and do an accent wall (on the top) with the V groove panels. You can leave them a natural color(just seal) or paint them white as well.

Idea #2 - These panels are so light and thin, you can adhere them right to the tile with a construction adhesive and cover the tile up. You can put them either vertical or horizontal.

Idea # 3 - if you're feeling more ambitious, remove the tile and do all of your walls, paint them white, to give a shiplap look:)

PS you can buy them at Lowes and some home depot stores carry them:)
