Beautiful moss covered eggs at a fraction of the price!
I wanted moss eggs, but certainly didn't want to buy them! By going through my stash, I found I could make them with 3 materials.
All that's need is an egg, moss and mod podge
I found some paper mache eggs from last year. I think I got them at Target at a very reasonable price. You can probably use plastic eggs, but they may be a little more difficult, since they will be slippery.
I found some moss at the dollar tree. This stuff goes a long way! One bag will give you enough moss for a dozen eggs AND a few more projects.
The glue says Aleenes but I just reuse the jar because it has a nifty brush on the cap. But it's a mix of half water and half Elmer's glue. I NEVER buy mode podge...too expensive!
This is messy, so I spread a trash bag on the table for easier cleanup.

Apply glue and dip!
Tear the moss into small pieces. Then, working in sections, apply glue and press moss on the glue.
Glue and moss are NOT friends!
You need to work and press the moss down. I found, through trial and error and sticky hands, that the best way is, after each roll in the moss, that by sticking the egg in a plastic grocery bag and then pressing firmly, the moss adheres better and stays off your hands and on the eggs!
It doesn't take long to dry, so do a few sections at a time and then let it dry for a few minutes.
When the whole egg is covered and dry, you can trim loose ends.
Finished egg!
I've made one (large) one and am going to make 2 smaller ones. I kinda love them.
