I accidentally burnt sugar on this pot the other day. Hometalkers were silent so I went to the world of chemistry for the answer.
Empty the pot and clean out the debris as best you can. No need to scrub. Pour one half inch of hydrogen peroxide into the pot. Set it on the stove to simmer. Once it is simmering, add 2 tsp. baking soda. Continue to simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off and let cool. Wash your pot.
Ta-da! You may need a nylon scrubbie - but no elbow grease. Chemistry has dissolved the carbon bond to the stainless steel. You just saved a pot!
Suggested materials:
  • Hydrogen peroxide   (grocery store)
  • Baking soda   (grocery store)
