I live in a townhouse with a small fenced in yard. I had a small dog and had no problem. I have know taken in a German Shepherd puppy that has destroyed it. I no longer have grass or can get anything down that she doesn’t think is a play toy. The white rocks she like to try and it. What can I do to make this a unmuddy mess? Concrete it all, half, anythin?
Use Large Rubber mats and cover the entire area
do you leave her out alone for extended periods of time? I would start by staying out with her and when she goes after the plants or grass (or otherwise inappropriate behaviour) gently remind her that it not allowed. Train her to “go” in one spot (having her on a leash for a few weeks) should also help. Once she is trained for proper yard etiquette, you can replace the grass/planting’s/rock as you wish
Well, I would consider a rock garden. It's easy to maintain, hardy for the pup and can be very attractive. Once the expense is done, and that doesn't have to be much, you can enjoy it for years.
This link will help and keep in mind, waterfalls and such are not practical or necessary. You can find lovely river rock close or if you live in an arid clime, desert rocks would be free, too.
If you chose to put down some plants, I would protect them from the little angel with these tips.

Bless her heart. As she gets bigger, she’s going to need a lot of long walks, and maybe a dog park or farm to visit. I’d make her a dirt box (like sand box) to go in and dig in. You could even hide an appropriate bone or toy or two for her interest. The box need not be more than a frame. Then you could move the frame if you want to in the future, and you are leaving fertilized soil behind. And some paving stones on the grass itself, with space for grass if you want it. ☺️
I have "outside Toys" for my dog to entertain her. large tough balls to push around. Rope toys and such. It may help you to make such an investment. My Lab is now 9 years old and still plays with her "outside toys". She cannot bring them in, as she would break things. Different toys for inside.
I don't see anything for her to play with. She needs toys so keep her entertained.
Bored dogs get into trouble, digging, barking and other destructive, disruptive activities. Play with your dog, try a kid's swimming pool, take the dog for long walks and runs.
The dog is a puppy. She is in training and goes to daycare so she is not bored.
