Have you tried Privacy Window Films... It is an easy DIY project and there are several styles to choose from

You could use bamboo or the ones that look like thin bamboo sticks. I have one over my bay window, it was too impossible to put a shade on each window so I went with one real wide one. You can also get a wide one to cover multiple windows and roll it up to where the sun doesn't come in so much all at once instead of having to deal with each window separately.

Fixed or roller shades, or roman shades? Inside or outside?

We live in AZ. We purchased sun screen/shades for the house windows when we first moved in ($500+) Lowe's carries "shade cloth" in their garden department (less than $2 per linear foot, 60 inches wide) in several colors, black, tan, green and brown. A wood frame and staple on some shade cloth and you have a sun shade

you can get a pretty lace pattern in any color or dye it to your color (if you are dying it yourself make sure it is not a polyester lace) and cut it to fit the glass and either use modge podge or for something won’t be so hard to remove if you ever wanted to you can use a cornstarch, water mixture to work as a glue! It will still show some light and added bonus it some privacy!

Do you want to permanently block the light from coming in the windows? You can buy cheap plastic roll up shades at places like Walmart or Kmart. They also have bamboo shades.

I used mini-blinds in my sunroom, works great.

You could also make your own. Measure top to bottom for material along with width. You might have to put two pieces together depending on the width of fabric. At the local hardware store or Menard's Lowe's or something like that get a thin metal pipe with something to secure it to the sides of frame. You will also need a good coated cord for the roll ups 2-3 even 4 depending again on the width. Use a good glue product and glue to pipe glue cords and possibly a bracket to secure the cord more. People at these store can help you. Hope this helps, it can be done. If you have more questions please ask I will try to help. Good DIYing.

I live in Florida and I have a 10x20 screenroom. After using rollup bamboo shades (they rot and smell moldy), I decided to use polyester fabric shower curtains and spring rods. The curtains can easily be pulled back when I want sun, and closed when I need shade.

Great idea, thank you. However, I have floor to ceiling windows (also in FL). Finding any curtains long enough is a problem
