I paint my 50-yr old in-ground concrete pool every 2 or 3 years. It turns out great and what a sense of accomplishment! I use a rubber based pool paint in bikini blue.

We know of several people who have repainted their pool.... the results depend on the preparation...if the proper preparation steps were followed... the results were good .

You have to use Swimming Pool paint. You get it from swimming pool supply outfits. Once you start painting, you can't stop for more than a couple of minutes, so make sure the weather co operates and get rid of the kids for the day. If you get interrupted for too long, the paint in the can will have to be thrown out. Once the catallist is put in, you can't take breaks til the job is done or the paint can is empty.

yup - every other year, for decades.

with a brush, because the paint is expensive, and even the shortest-nap roller will create a ton of splattering and these weird stringy bits that will stick to everything, especially you.

you drain the pool, scrub it down with dilute muriatic (hydrocloric) acid, rinse, drain, let dry, then paint.

cleanup is tough (wear layered clothing and long sleeves)
