Decorating a bookshelf can be frustrating. How many books should I add to the shelf? What sort of accessories look best? How do I make it look accessorized and not cluttered? Below are a few photos of a large bookshelf I decorated for a local business. Be sure to scroll down and watch the new video I posted about decorating a bookshelf.
Here is a before photo of a the bookshelf that is right inside the main lobby. Since this is is a large bookshelf, choosing larger accessories is key to making the scale look correct.
Much better! I replaced their small letters "CFA" with much larger ones. Placing them on the middle shelf makes them the highlight of the bookshelf. I found an old antique briefcase at the local flea market. It looks great on the shelf! Greenery helps to soften the entire look.

I hung a mirrored window on the wall above the top shelf. It reflects light and is a unique way to give even more height and interest to the bookshelf.
The old briefcase still had the key! I found an American flag picture at Hobby Lobby. Love the colors. A metal clock and a few other fun accessories completed this bookshelf.
