HOW CAN YOU GET MOLD STAINS OFF OF DRYWALL.I USED BLEACH & WATER TO CLEAN OFF FIRST THEN LET IT DRY & THEN PAINTED IT WITH KILLS/PAINT STAIN HIDE & IT BLEEDS THROUGH SLIGHTLY. IS THERE ANY REALLY GOOD PAINT out there that is one coat & will not bleed through. The kills I bought was expensive $25 or $30.00 a gallon & did not work! The mold stains was due to a water leak.I am hoping I do not have to replace the drywall!

Kilz is not made to kill mold. If the mold has really sunk in to the porous drywall (which it sounds like it has) the only choice you have is to replace that section of the drywall. Cut it out and replace.

Once drywall has been soaked with water it is done. Cannot explain why the stain comes through when you used a stain blocking primer like Kilz, but you are painting over wallboard that should be removed. The mold goes all the way through.

You might need to use a primer them repaint it the color you want. A Paint store can mix a primer into your color and you may have to do two coats.

Try stronger bleach/water. I think maybe I used 50/50 and it worked.

Thank you all who has answerer my question. However Rosalind answer worked as well as I USED a textured paint to cover. As for the mold I did as stated use bleach to rid & let it dry it was not all the way through. Then painted over.So far so good.If it holds up hopefully it will help someone else not to have to replace drywall.

Clorox, dry. Must use stain blocking kilz. U can also get a mold retarder to add to paint.
