It can be died - contact a carpet store and have it professionally done for the best, long-lasting results.

I bought a remnant a few years ago for my front porch, sides open but did have a roof. I changed color scheme and then spray painted the carpet black with regular old spray paint. Lasted for years, getting wet, drying etc. No marks on feet of smears when wet and you walked on or kids sat on. My thought process was it I spill one drop of paint on this carpet, I can never get it out ,so why not paint it all, lo!. Rug is old now, been out in weather, I put it under waste bins on side of house and is starting to disintegrate but color never waivered. Would do again, think it worked great.Key is to let dry Totally.
