Dig it up and transplant or disgard is the best bet.

You will have to dig it up roots and all. It can completely take over if you let it. After you dig it up, keep checking because little tiny ones will come up, just grab those by the root when you see them.

If you wish to retain some of it as a border, choose a flower pot or bucket about the size of the root system you wish to keep. Turn the container upside down over the amount of monkey grass you wish to keep; using a systemic means of killing the excess, saturate the unwanted grass and when the roots that were sprayed begin to die back, you should be able to see your neat border. If you wish to eliminate it all together, first offer friends and neighbors the option of digging up clumps they would like to separate and plant in their yards and gardens. If that fails, again, use a systemic root killer and start spraying. Try to not use chemicals as they tend to harm honey bees and other things that are necessary for pollination.
