Many of us need to do this at least once. Since your family room is obviously open to at least one other room, and you will be more crowded in other area with the loss of the family room, my first suggestion is for you to claim 3-6’ into the family room for the kitchen or another room.
You can build very temporary dry wall or paneled walls by putting up 2x4”s or aluminum framing. Use the frame at the top and for ceiling-high doors (which could be curtains or saloon swinging doors.) You don’t need to panel or drywall the inside walls unless your houseguest is picky. This will still mean a loss of some privacy for everyone, so you can build more substantial walls if you need to. There r a lot of ideas on Amazon..
Staple sheets to the ceiling with a staple gun...or fabric...you can often find bulk fabric at thrift shops for a great price.
Ditto what Linda said. Easiest and cheapest!
Do what they do in hospitals. Run a track on the ceiling and attach a curtain to pull and open whenever you want.
Also book cases put back to back make good dividers and provide storage too.
